The Go Red For Women Luncheon is a social event designed to empower, educate and encourage women to take charge of their health. It is part of the American Heart Association’s national Go Red For Women movement which seeks to increase awareness of heart disease and stroke and to inspire women to take steps to keep their heart healthy. The event will feature educational breakout sessions, a health expo with free health screenings and information and a heart-healthy lunch.

Heart disease and stroke are the No. 1 and No. 3 killers in America. These and other cardiovascular diseases kill approximately 450,000 women each year—that’s about one woman every minute.

Funds raised at the Go Red For Women Luncheon will help fund research that will allow us to better understand what causes heart disease and stroke in women and find better ways to treat and prevent the diseases. Research funded by the American Heart Association has yielded discoveries such as CPR, life-extending drugs, pacemakers, bypass surgery and surgical techniques to repair heart defects.
